The Menu of Good Governance provides a decision support tool for policymakers and other stakeholders who work on food sharing initiatives. It helps them create and implement rules and programs for food sharing. By looking at successful examples from Europe, the tool provides insights into how to advance food sharing in different contexts. It shows solutions to common challenges that food-sharing projects face, offering inspiration and helping decision-makers plan and carry out their efforts effectively for the benefit of local and global communities.
The Menu of Good Governance is a tool from the Food Sharing Compass at CULTIVATE. CULTIVATE is an EU-funded project to increase public awareness and knowledge of Food Sharing initiatives (FSIs), to understand what drives or hampers their practice, and to help stakeholders navigate food sharing landscapes and cultures to understand, develop, replicate, scale out, and strengthen food sharing. The ultimate goal of the project is to create more sustainable, resilient, and healthy urban and peri-urban food systems.
The Menu of Good Governance does not display an exhaustive list of practices across Europe. It is rather a sample button of the multiplicity of practices that can help expand, develop and replicate food sharing initiatives in Europe and beyond.
